The Bristol Mix – Chorus Manager Role
·Organise and coordinate the Chorus members so that they are informed in advance about rehearsals.
·At rehearsals – ensure risers are assembled/put away, that members are on the risers when required by the MD and that they are suitably focused and attentive. Timekeeping is an important aspect of effective rehearsals - the chorus manager will be key in helping maintain good timekeeping. This will require a loud voice with the chorus, but a subtle, quiet voice or signal to the MD when approaching break time.
·At sing outs/contests – in addition to the lines above, ensure that the Chorus is fully briefed on the appropriate details (timings, locations, routes, stage gear, order of entry on/off stage, etc.)
·Coordinate with internal and external parties on technology requirements for sing outs or contests
·Maintain list of local, national and international music festivals and non BABS contests suitable for possible TBM participation, and bring such events to the attention of the MD
·Act as chorus liaison officer for such events, to include being responsible for entry forms.
·Register/organise the Chorus for their participation in BABS and non BABS contests
·Coordinate with Musical/Performance Teams concerning any administrative matters that impact chorus members.
·Liaise with MD on musical administrative matters for specific shows
·Significant aspects of the above will overlap with the responsibilities of others within the chorus. For example;
o Work with Operations Manager on the logistical aspects of rehearsals and shows
o Liaise with the Communications Manager on publicity aspects of shows
o Assist the Operations Manager in the detailed planning for Convention/Sing Outs/other events.
o Ensure the MD, Chair & Exec team are kept fully informed of matters impacting the chorus.
